Liver cookies :: Dog Treat Recipe
A kg of raw beef liver has been snoozing in my freezer for a month, so liver cookies it is then!
Preparation time: 15 mins
Bake time: 30 mins
0.5 kg raw liver
1 cup whole wheat flour
0.5 cup oats
1 egg
1) Puree liver. I opted for a less than smooth finish because I wanted the liver bits to stick out from the cookies.
2) Mix the pureed liver, flour, oats and egg in a bowl.
3) Pour mixture into a foil lined pan.
4) Bake at 150 celcius for about half an hour till hard and dry.
I took out the tray halfway into the bake, and scored them into squares using a knife. This makes it easier to break into pieces once they are baked hard.
* The egg is optional. I find that adding an egg results in a less crumbly, tougher texture. All the better to crunch!
This makes a ton of cookies. Roughly about 40 pieces of 3cm squares. Keep them refrigerated.
